Eye surgeon is an ophthalmologist who is trained to perform various types of surgeries of the eye. Eye surgeon can perform laser eye/refractive surgery to correct short-sightedness, long sightedness, and astigmatism. They also perform cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, canaloplasty, corneal transplant surgery, vitreo-retinal surgery, eye muscle surgery, eyelid surgery, orbital surgery, and eye removal.
Ophthalmologists are doctors who are trained and specialized in the medical and surgical care of the eyes. They can be either doctor of medicine (MD) or doctors of osteopathy (DO).
